Stages of Otoplasty
Otoplasty goes through several stages, which are;
In which the doctor examines the patient’s ear area, and discusses with her/him the operation’s stages and details, and then the final shape of the ear after performing the operation.
Otoplasty is performed under general anesthesia.
The doctor makes a small incision behind the ear, which allows him to access the cartilage.
The doctor performs Otoplasty operation, either by cutting the cartilage; the main structural component of the ear, or by folding and fixing the cartilage instead of cutting it.
The doctor closes the surgical incision, and places the bandages on the entire head. These bandages remain for three days. However, the ear corset must be worn for a period of two to six weeks after removing the bandages.
